Simple Leftover Bread Recipes

Did you know that roughly 24 million slices of bread are thrown away every day? Considering how much everyone loves bread, this is some hard news to accept. Sometimes people are just not able to utilize the entire loaf of bread before it gets molded or stale. Rather than letting your leftover bread go to waste, try using it to make an entirely new meal! Below are a few simple and delicious recipes in which you can make use of your leftover bread:

French Onion Soup with Cheesy Croutons

Cheese & bread make a perfect couple. Put them together with some tasty French onion soup and you’re in for a treat. All you need to do is cut your bread into one-inch chunks and follow this recipe.

Grilled Cheese Bites & Tomato Soup

A grilled cheese goes great with tomato soup, as most people know. So, why not try dividing the grilled cheese into little pieces and putting them directly into the soup? You know you want to. Here’s the full recipe.

Stuffing has always been a Thanksgiving favorite, but it is perfectly acceptable to enjoy it all year round. Plus, you can customize this recipe to add whatever you want to your leftover bread. Check out a recipe for this here.

Now, you may think that Pop-Tarts can only be enjoyed by using a pastry crust. However, you can also make them using traditional sliced white or wheat bread! Simply flatten out the slices using a rolling pin and coat them in butter. Next, fill them with whatever suits your taste buds (we suggest Nutella and marshmallow). Then, press the two slices together and place them in your toaster for a few minutes. Follow the full recipe here.

The best part about a casserole is that you can customize it to include any ingredients you want – whether it be chicken, tuna, pork, shrimp, or vegetables. All you have to do to your leftover bread is break it down into tiny little crumbs and add it to the casserole. The full recipe can be found here.

Meatless Meatballs

Take a break from traditional meatballs by making tasty eggplant and breadcrumb meatballs! Again, all you need to do to your leftover bread is break it down into tiny crumbs. Sounds good, right? See the whole recipe here.

Cheese fondue is the perfect appetizer for any party! Cut up your leftover bread into bite-sized pieces, toast them, and they’ll be ready for dipping! You can then place the bread pieces with apple slices and vegetables for more variety. Want to learn how to make the heavenly cheese fondue? See here.
